Council election

Highland

Caol and Mallaig ward

25 September 2025

Our analysis of the data (including by-elections, any relevant district elections and knowledge of where the parties are putting in the most effort) in this area suggests that the contest will be between Independent and Lib Dem (i.e. Tories and Reform can't win here) ...

VOTING TOGETHER GIVES US MORE POLITICAL POWER

Millions of people could vote tactically at this year's elections. A big proportion of voters showing up mainly to prevent the right from seizing power. Register as a tactical voter by joining the Movement Forward and we can prove it. Then together we'll tell the new government how they truly can earn our votes next time.

Tactical Advice Explainer

(Caol and Mallaig ward)

You can vote for 1 candidate here

We've manually set advice for this ward. The last time the seat was up for election in 2022 it was uncontested and the three canddiates were all elected (for Green, Lib Dem and Tory). Prior to that it had been a strongly independent ward but where the Lib Dems had made progress in a 2018 by-election and in the Westminster seat which they recently [won back](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inverness,Skye_and_West_Ross-shire(UK_Parliament_constituency) from the SNP.

Liberal Democrat won the last election

SNP came 2nd

Vote counts missing for Scottish elections

Sorry, we aren't yet able to show vote counts for Scottish elections because they are STV (Single Transferable Vote) and so work differently to the First Past the Post system used elsewhere in the UK. However please rest assured it's on our list to fix this!

In the mean time, you can find the relevant information in the explainer text next to this section.
